CAST Teachers Visit From Lawrence School

The students in the Cross-Age Science Teaching (CAST) Program from Lawrence School came to 3rd grade to teach us about electricity. We made an electric circuit. We learned about open and closed circuits. We learned how to make a light bulb glow using a battery and a wire.  We also used a motor with the battery and made a paper circle spin around in circles. Our class had an amazing time learning about electricity, and we cannot wait for their next visit!

We Are Engineers

We took an imaginary trip to Haiti to learn about designing and building earthquake resistant buildings. Haiti suffered a huge earthquake that destroyed many of their buildings. We learned about the Engineering Design Process and learned about building codes. We learned how to work as a team using teamwork, communication skills, and listening skills. We built a shake table to simulate an earthquake. We learned how to be engineers!

BLIZZARDS

Have you ever been in a blizzard before? Blizzards can last 3 to 6 hours. Blizzards are caused  when a warm moist weather system and a cold dry system bump into each other. They can do a lot of damage. They can do damage to telephone wires, cars, trees, and electricity. The Northern Great Plains, midwestern and northeastern U.S. have blizzards. In blizzards you should have candles in case the electricity goes out. You should get warm clothes in the blizzard and you should have lots of hot chocolate and first aid kits. Blizzards are more dangerous than snowstorms.

Christmas Morning

Bang! Bang! My baby sister was banging her bottle on her crib. I woke up and grabbed my baby sister out of her crib because we share a room. I talked to her for a little bit. “Stay here,” I told her. “I’m going to see if Santa came.” He did! I brought my little sister down and we looked at all of the presents. My big sister woke up then we woke my two brothers. We woke up our mom and dad. We opened all of our presents and we still had presents for the next day. That was the best day day of vacation.

The First Christmas

Hi, I’m Chloe. I love Christmas. Expressly my very first one. And here is the story of my very first Christmas. When I was born, I was to little to under stand Christmas. So when I turned 5 years old my mom told me about it. I loved all of the things that she told me. The presents, the tree, the ornaments, and then she got to the most amazing thing about Christmas, SANTA!  I was so excited to stay up all night to see Santa.  I wanted to see how tall he was, how fat he was, I wanted to know if he would eat the cookies and the milk! That’s how excited I was!

Finally It was Christmas Eve night and I was going to stay up all night to see Santa.  But I was getting sleepy and it was only 8:58 and I had to wait tell it was midnight! I don’t Know how Santa does it every year! Finally it was 11:15 it was almost time to see Santa.

I took a little nap, and then I heard a big BANG! Everyone woke up to that sound. We all chased to the door.  We were all excited but I was most excited. And you won’t guess what it was! It was my next door neighbor walking his DOG!

Then we all went back to sleep… except me! I was not giving up on seeing Santa! And it was 11:53! Santa should be here any minute now. But I was to sleepy, so I went to sleep and gave up on seeing Santa. Then someone was tapping on my shoulder?

And I woke up to see SANTA! I hugged him and he hugged me. I hugged him VERY, VERY, VERY, VERY tight! When I saw my Christmas tree, lots and lots and lots of presents were there.

So if you want to see Santa do not give up or you will never see Santa in your life, and love all of your presents you get. The END

The First Jump

“YES!”finally I can go on my trampoline! I got it on Christmas Eve from my mom and my step dad. First I unzipped the trampoline. I bounced on it and did some straddle jumps. I told myself this was the best gift ever! I also told myself that I can do this. Then I tried it and I did it! I did my back tuck on my new trampoline! Now I said to myself I have to practice.

Ok I will now  try a front tuck. “YES!” I also did that.

Now I always need to practice and be careful.

Halloween

When I got of the bus I was so happy. I was going to the fire station. With my friends it took a long time to get there. But when we got there we saw all of the fire trucks. It was awesome but first we had to go in a fun room. But I wanted to go in the fire trucks. In the fun room was a game it was cold feed the ghost. You had to throw a ball in the ghost mouth. I liked it a lot. But when we got to go in the fire trucks my favorite one was the green one. Because I like the color and the inside. After the fire trucks. We went by the fun room I can hear the ghost game it was loud. In Then we want in are friends car it took us a long time to go back to our home. And when we got there we went to are homes to get on are costumes. Then we went trick-or-treating I got a lot of candy. After we went to our homes and went to sleep.
